This policy outlines how we manage your personal data as it relates to Darren Gillingham Garden Design.

This is Version 1.1, and this policy was issued in August 2023.  We may update this policy again in the future and will publish any subsequent versions of it here.  If you have any questions about this policy, just get in touch via the contacts page of the website.

Personal data is highly valuable, and as we handle your personal data, we have responsibility to keep your data safe and we take this responsibility very seriously.

1. Who are we?

Darren Gillingham Garden Design ("we", "us", "our") is a garden design and gardening service business, providing garden consultations, designs and gardening work. 

As a data controller, we collect, store and process personal data when you contact us via our site www.gillinghamgardens.co.uk or provide personal data to us by other means (e.g. Facebook, Email, Whats App, Messenger, Instagram, or telephone).  Our Privacy Policy explains how we treat your data, including personal data.  These documents apply to your use of the Darren Gillingham Garden Design website, interactions with us on Facebook, Email, Whats App, Messenger, Instagram and telephone, and the Darren Gillingham Garden Design service, should you become a client.

In the event that we learn that we have collected personal data from a child under age 16 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible.

Your personal data includes the information you provide to us or that you authorise someone else to provide when you:

●      Provide information about you in an enquiry, by telephone, Facebook or email;

Examples of this personal data include name, email address, contact number, postal address, telephone number, as well as any correspondence sent by you to us.  We save this data in a secure location, accessed only by password.  This includes in our personal email system, and our password-secured business management application. 

You are not required to provide any of this information to us, although not doing so may impact on our ability to respond to your enquiry. 

3. What do we use your personal data for?

We collect and use your personal data to respond to your enquiry and to provide you with our service. We do not use your data for marketing or to contact you in any other way other than in the furtherance of responding to your enquiry or our service to you, if you become a client.

We do not share your personal data with any third parties. 

5. How long do we store your data for?

We aim to store your data for the minimum amount of time that provides benefit to you, and for as long as is necessary for the purposes of processing that are set out in this policy.  

6. Can I export my data at any time?

You can export a copy of your data whenever you like, e.g. your personal data that we hold.

7. Can I delete my data at any time?

8. Our use of cookies

We do not collect any cookies in the usage of our website. 

9. Security and data storage

We strive to take all reasonable steps to keep your personal data secure once it has been transferred to our systems. We implement appropriate, industry-standard data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. 

Where we utilise third parties to help provide our services, we will always ensure that, as a minimum, the security policies and confidentiality arrangements of those third parties adhere to the same requirements that we impose and expect.

We use passwords to restrict access to our data storage accounts, and to keep your data secure. 

We advise that, despite our best efforts, the internet is not a secure medium and therefore we cannot guarantee the security of any data transmitted to Darren Gillingham Garden Design. Any such transmission is at your own risk.

10. What are my rights under GDPR and how do you meet them?
